The Illustrated Word is also the first published collection of patterns by stained glass artist, Karen Stephenson.
This new pattern book is filled with twenty-one simple but elegant designs built around unique words that will capture your imagination and remind you of family and home. The single words in each panel are beautifully enhanced with graceful vines, flowers, birds, butterflies, hearts, and leaves. Included are signs of welcome; artful panels of the four seasons; a family tree; and admonitions to shine, inspire, live, love, laugh, hope, dream, and believe.
There are forty-three, full-color project ideas showing different glass selections. Any of these projects will make wonderful gifts for special people, occasions, and celebrations in life or great additions to home decor. “Welcome” can be built to accompany the “Four Seasons” panels. The panels can be hung independently or with a companion “Season” using decorative chain or wire. Many of these projects use ancillary products available at stained glass retail stores. These items include beads and charms and are used to further enhance the projects.

There is a complete step-by-step photo how-to in the beginning of the book, walking hobbyists through the stages of their glass craft project. Inspirational quotes have also been added to the book to appeal to the creative spirit of the crafter.
