A look at various ways to protect kilns that are installed in outdoor settings. Suggestions are offered for protecting kilns by providing a fully enclosed outdoor studio or three-sided enclosures. Potential problems that can arise when housing a kiln outdoors under a roof with open sides are also presented, including exposure to dust and moisture that can deteriorate the kiln.
